in my 20s, i got a high energy, hypoallergenic giant schnauzer named jax. he quickly became my world, my adventure partner for running, hiking, mountain biking, and camping. having a dog with hair instead of fur was a new experience for me, and i soon discovered the unique challenges that came with it. jax’s playful antics, rolling in mud, splashing through puddles, and running so hard he even hurt his paws, were both endearing and messy. unlike fur, his hair trapped dirt, debris, ticks, and even snow in the winter, making cleanup a constant challenge. on long winter hikes, snow would clump painfully between his paws, forcing us to stop mid trail as he tried to chew them out. we tried countless booties to fix the problem, but none stayed on or held up through all seasons. most would slip off, need constant readjusting, or fail in tough terrain. as an avid runner, hiker, and mountain biker, i realized there were few dog products specifically designed for the outdoor activities we love. that’s when i knew i needed to find a real solution.
